ASAPKey Responsibilities
- Performing top-notch subject matter reviews (revising for historical accuracy and providing explanations of changes), developmental and content editing (improving structure and language, with a sharp eye for bias), and some original writing (developing new or substantially revised content)
- Ensuring that all content meets our high standards of editorial excellence, with focus on accuracy, instructional quality, classroom sensitivity, and inclusion
- Collaborating closely with our Executive Editor and Editorial Team to meet our rigorous production deadlines, anticipate and resolve problems, and ensure excellent results
- Supporting a variety of processes and functions within the Editorial Team and across ICS, including the facilitation of workflows, development of style sheets and other core editorial resources, and maintenance of schedules and metrics tracking documents
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years as an editor of student-facing educational materials, or comparable content
- Exceptional content review, editing, and development skills
- Foundational knowledge of Jews, Judaism, and Jewish history
- Support for ICS’s mission of promoting accurate K–12 education about Jews, Judaism, and Jewish history
- Self-motivated and highly organized, with exceptional follow-through, initiative, and commitment to excellence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in K–12 publishing (ideally for grades 6–12)
- Understanding of K–12 reading levels, text structures, and instructional practices
