Jewish History

This track is ONLY for educators who work in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia

Overview

By the end of this program, you will understand the basics of Judaism, the origins of antisemitism and how it has evolved over time, the story of America’s largest wave of Jewish immigration, and what Jewish American identity looks like today. Participants will learn new strategies for engaging students with primary source documents, collaborate with fellow educators, and receive ready-to-use lesson plans and standards-driven curricula.

  • History of European Antisemitism
  • Jewish Immigration to the U.S.: 1880-1924

Please note that this program covers content from our stand-alone sessions, combined into an integrated learning experience. If you have previously participated in a session on one of the above topics, you will find familiar material within this Summer Institute track.  

Program Details

  • This program runs for two days and meets for 3 hours per day (for a total of 6 hours) from 9am-12pm
  • Upon completion of this program, participants will receive a $150 stipend and 6 credits upon completion of this program

Application Process

Applications will be reviewed and participants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each Summer Institute will be capped to ensure a productive cohort learning experience.
