We are pleased to announce that following a rigorous, national search, we have unanimously selected Dr. Susan Kardos as our inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Susan began her work with us at the beginning of March. During our interview process, Susan showed us, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she has the background and expertise to work together with ICS’s outstanding team to grow ICS and expand its impact.
Susan brings vision, strategic leadership, fundraising, management, and education knowledge and experience to the CEO role. She has 30 years of experience in education, including as a middle school classroom teacher, an education policy researcher, and an education foundation professional. She has a doctorate in education and is experienced in non-profit and philanthropic leadership. She was previously the Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School in New York City.
Susan shared that as she learned more and more about ICS’s successes and ambitions, she became convinced that there wasn’t anything more important that she could be doing for American society and the Jewish people than joining ICS.
Aliza Craimer Elias, whose exceptional work and dedication has built ICS, led as interim CEO, and has now assumed her new role as Chief Program and Strategy Officer.
With gratitude,
Graham Hoffman
President on behalf of the ICS Board of Trustees
